Harrad signs for Burton

Harrad made his debut for the part-timers on Saturday, after having his contract terminated with the Magpies last Friday.

The youngster starred in Burton's 1-0 friendly defeat to Chester City, a match that was the first to be staged in Albion's new state-of-the-art Pirelli Stadium. The striker then officialy signed for Nigel Clough's men after the game.

The 20-year-old came through the youth ranks at Meadow Lane, but despite signs of promise, was never really able to get a sustained run in the first team.

And, though it was initially thought that new boss Gudjon Thordarson initiated the talks to release Harrad from the final year of his contract, it has since transpired that it was the Nottingham-born forward who requested to be released in order to find first-team football.

The youngster - who is actually a Notts County fan - has made a total of 32 first team appearences since making his debut as a raw 18-year-old YTS under Billy Dearden, in late-2002.

Just five of those 32 appearences were starts though, with all those coming last season under Ian Richardson. His finest hour in a Notts County shirt was unquestionably his magnificent performance during his full debut, the televised 2-0 FA Cup victory over Swindon Town.

All at NCM wish Shaun all the best.
