Former Notts County manager Hans Backe has launched a strange bid to sign Magpies striker Luke Rodgers, it has emerged. Weirdly enough, Rodgers could be partnering Thierry Henry next season with the MLS franchise also attempting an audacious swoop to take the Frenchman to New York.
Backe had a short spell in charge of the Magpies earlier this season and was evidently impressive by the man who is single handedly keeping Notts at the top of the offside league. With the MLS window shutting before the end of the English season it is unlikely that Steve Cotterill will be willing to lose a member of his threadbare squad, however.
