Hackworth Impresses In Return

The former Leeds forward had made just 2 brief sub appearances for Notts this season, and started the game against Tranmere yesterday due to an injury crisis up front for Notts.

With Danny Allsopp & Paul Heffernan missing through injury, Notts had only Mark Stallard & Hackworth as fit pro's to lead the line and the young forward gave a strong display.

Making his first start since 16th February, he nearly made a goalscoring return when he went on a mazy run before hitting the post with a thunderous left foot drive in the first half.

After making only a few reserve appearances following a knee op in October, it may have been seen as a risk to start with Hackworth, but he repaid Billy Dearden's faith in him with a good performance and he linked up well with 2 goal hero Stallard.

It remains to be seen if he will start on Thursday against Barnsley if Heffernan & Allsopp return, as Dearden may see it as too much too soon following injury.
