Hackworth picked up an injury to his knee in a reserve game at the start of October, and after resting the knee and seeing no improvement he went to see a specialist about the problem.

He then had a minor operation last week and is hopeful of a return to training within the next 2 weeks, and then he can set his sights on returning to the first team squad.

His chances have been limited this season, with Paul Heffernan, Mark Stallard and Danny Allsopp all above him in the pecking order. However, he has had a bad time of it at Meadow Lane, picking up one injury after another.

He may feature in the reserve's game against Hull on 27th November.
