Gudjon's price is right

Thordarson had, only a week or so ago, expressed his disappointment at the rumoured cost-cutting measures expected when the board announced their playing budget to the Icelandic Notts boss.

Gudjon: One very happy shopper
The wage budget was rumoured to be cut from just over £1m per season to around 75 per cent of that figure, reductions that Thordarson felt would directly stunt the progress of his side next season.

Remarkably, after having met with the board to resolve matters, Thordarson now is insistent that the budget agreed will be adequate to mount a serious promotion push next season.

Things have developed in the right direction and I am happy with that. The budget is clear in front of me and I am ready to go and operate in full force and line up my team,” said Thordarson, speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post today.

I had a meeting in the week with the directors and everything is sorted behind the scenes and I am fully focused on taking this club forward in the right manner.”

Hopefully it all comes together and I will put a team together to challenge for promotion next season.”

With the current season not even out, the Notts manager is already believed to have opened talks with a number of existing players as well as potential targets as the Icelandic gaffer looks to bolster his ranks, with every member of his playing staff bar ‘keeper Kevin Pilkington out-of-contract at the end of the season.
