It has been revealed today, however, that the hear-say of ‘ongoing talks' were, in fact, never begun, bursting a huge bubble for the Magpies fans hopeful of seeing Thorne at the ‘Lane next season.
With a role still void for a hard-hitting front-man, the Magpies faithful have been frustrated over the last few seasons on the attacking-front, with top-scorer Glynn Hurst long since having departed – a void that the presence of Thorne would certainly have filled.
And whilst Gudjon admits he is a player he'd love to have amidst his ranks, the Icelandic boss admits that he is some way out of the club's price bracket.
