Gudjon quashes Thorne rumours

NCM brought you the rumours originally circulated in the Icelandic media earlier this week linking 33-year old Thorne with a move to Meadow Lane.

Thorne: No go
It has been revealed today, however, that the hear-say of ‘ongoing talks' were, in fact, never begun, bursting a huge bubble for the Magpies fans hopeful of seeing Thorne at the ‘Lane next season.

With a role still void for a hard-hitting front-man, the Magpies faithful have been frustrated over the last few seasons on the attacking-front, with top-scorer Glynn Hurst long since having departed – a void that the presence of Thorne would certainly have filled.

And whilst Gudjon admits he is a player he'd love to have amidst his ranks, the Icelandic boss admits that he is some way out of the club's price bracket.

Peter is a smashing lad, I know him well from our Stoke days but I haven't spoken to him about joining us,” said Thordarson, speaking to the club's official web-site earlier today.

"I would think he would be a little out of our price range anyway.

"I know what he is capable of after working with him at Stoke, but I haven't spoken to the boy about him coming to the Club."
