Gudjon confirms Hurst bust-up

Top-scorer Hurst was a shock ommision from Tuesday night's squad that travelled to Grimsby Town and it wasn't until NCM broke the story of the training-ground argument that the story was explained.

The story has since been on BBC Radio Nottingham and Thordarson took the oppurtuntity to explain what really happened this morning on the official website.

"I decided to drop Glynn out of the squad after an incident down here at the club on Monday," said the Magpies manager.

"It was my decision to leave him out and he has got to recognise, like everyone else, that there is only one language that will be understood and that is to go and perform.

"If he does not like what I am dealing with and how I am dealing with it, then he cannot win the situation. I am firm with my ideas and my discipline and I will not tolerate anything like that.

"The incident stemmed from Glynn asking to see me on Monday and he came into my office for a discussion. That discussion got out of order and I simply dropped him out of the squad.

"He has been fined for his actions and the matter has now been dealt with," concluded Thordarson.

In Hurst's absence, the Magpies slumped to a 4-0 hammering at Blundell Park. The striker was a substitute in the reserves' 2-0 defeat at home to Crewe the following day.

Despite the disagreement, Thordarson may opt to put the 29-year-old back in the squad that travels to Maccesfield Town tomorrow.

Hurst currrently has 5 goals to his name this campaign, despite making just seven league starts.
