The current Stoke man, 31, has fallen out-of-favour under manager Tony Pulis, and is believed to be becoming available for transfer should an offer be made.

Whilst manager Thordarson remains in his native Iceland on the look out for Icelandic talent there, gifted son Toddy remains grounded at the Britannia Stadium, having made just two substitute appearances for the Potters.

Toddi fits the play-maker mould that recently-departed midfielder Stef Oakes has vacated and would appear a tailor-made replacement for the former Leicester man after Oakes left for Wycombe earlier this week.

Coming fully-equipped with a weight of experience in Spain’s La Liga, Germany’s Bundesliga as well as carrying over fifty international caps, rumours from the Nottingham Evening Post suggest that his capture is highly likely.
