Further Scoff setback

The tenacious forward was hoping to make his first team comeback within the next couple of weeks, but a fall in, of all places, his kitchen last week has reopened a crack in his broken leg, just a couple of weeks after Scoffham had re-joined full training.

The 21-year-old broke his leg after coming on as a substitute during the last game of last season against Oldham Athletic.

He had previously impressed the Magpie faithful since signing from non-league Gedling Town in February, making 15 appearences and scoring two goals.

But we'll all have to wait a little longer to see him back in action.

"Steve is facing another four to six weeks before he is going to be back in training now," Manager Gary Mills told the NEP.

"There is a crack in the bone in his leg, which he picked up in the fall.

"I am gutted for the lad, because this is the last thing he needed, just as he is trying to kick-start his career.

"And this is a long period of time to have any player sidelined. By the time he returns, he will have been out for more than six months.

"It is a major blow. We will be telling him to be a bit more careful from this point on."

All at NCM wish Steve all the best in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back in action.
