Former boss Scott signs for Plymouth

The Scotsman has taken over the role at Home Park following Argyle losing John Blackleys, who previously filled the role, aftter he decided to join former Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock at Sheffield Wednesday.

Scott had previously been reserve team coach at Sunderland, but has made a great start with his new side, seeing them beat Rotherham 1-0 on Tuesday night.

On the move, Scott said: "Bobby (Williamson) phoned me last week while he had the international break and asked if I would be interested in coming to join him because of John Blackley's departure and there was a vacancy.

"For the last two years I have been working at Sunderland with the reserve team and I have missed the first team stuff.

"Tonight is the first time for a couple of years I have been excited, even though I was sitting in the stand. The nerves were there, especially towards the end of the game."

Argyle boss Bobby Williamson is thrilled with the appointment though, believing Scott, a personal friend from their time up-North, will add vital experience to his backroom staff.

"He's going to be a great acquisition for us," Said the Plymouth manager.

"Jocky is a man I've known for a long time - he put me through my coaching courses - and I am really looking forward to working with him.

"He's vastly experienced, he knows this division very well, having been at Sunderland, and he will bring a wealth of knowledge with him that can only benefit us."

Scott took over as Magpies boss from caretaker Gary Brazil in the summer of 2000. However, his stay at Meadow Lane was relatively short-lived after his contract was 'Terminated by mutual agreement' in October 2001 following a verbal altercation with a supporter.

His managerial record at Notts reads: P: 71, W: 28, L:24, D:19.

We wish him all the best in his new role.
