Paul Finnity has said he is confident the league will extend the deadline imposed on Notts to come out've Administration & therefore allow a bid made by a consortium led by Derek Pavis to buy the club.

"We will be asking for a four-week stay of execution from the Football League, to allow us to sort this out," said Finnity.

"We have held early discussions with them about this and we are very hopeful that this will happen.

"It will be down to the board to make the decision at a meeting today, but we are hopeful that when we show them what we have on the table, they will give us some more time.

"I am confident that Notts will be able to kick off the season on Saturday."

One thing thats still unclear, even if the meeting is successful, is whether Billy Dearden will be able to sign the 4 trialists he's had training with Notts for most of the summer.

However, Finnity said that Dearden WILL be able to sign Simon Baldry, Steve Jenkins, Tony Barras & Clive Platt on permanant deals, allowing them to play in the seasons opener.

"I am confident that I will be able to sign the players," he said. We just need some time to be able to sort everything out."

It has also been revealed that Billy Dearden had not been informed of the collapse of the Bhattia, Strang deal until informed by the Evening Post yesterday.

"I do not really want to comment until all the details become clear," said Dearden, who is yet to make a single permanent signing for the club.

"But I am getting used to there always being financial problems. This is just the latest twist.

"Hopefully, something can finally be sorted out and we get a light at the end of the tunnel."

The meeting with the Football League was scheduled to start at 9.30 am this morning and finish around late afternoon time.

Despite all of this, Sam McEwan, who it appears has lied to Notts fans all summer, still insists Bhattia & Strang can buy the club.

He says they have now secured finance with Scottish electronics company Magnum Power Solutions Ltd, who have expanded into the property market.

"They are willing to put £3m on the table," he said. "They would hold a 75 share in the club, with Frank and Raj having the remaining 25.

"As far as we are concerned, the deal is ready to go."

It was unclear as to whether Paul Finnity attended the meeting in London today.
