Allsopp completed his move to Peter Taylor's side yesterday on a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee, after two and a half years at Meadow Lane.

And following the release of 4 players yesterday, it may have come as a surprise to some people that the Aussie forward, who scored 55 goals for The Magpies in those two and a half years, was sold to the Division Three side.

"The sale of Danny Allsopp was a key factor in the survival of Notts County, it is as simple as that," Finnity told the Evening Post.

"The revenue it brought in has oiled the wheels of the potential takeover of the club.

"The takeover would still have happened if we had not sold Danny, but this has made things a whole lot easier.

"If he had not been sold the deal would have been slightly different, it would have been for slightly more money.

"Now we are able to pay off certain debts before the deal is done, which will make it easier to push through."
