“Even though it’s in the fourth league, it is crazy how professional English clubs are,” he said.

“It was really professional. We had everything we needed.

“We had massuers, we had lunch, we had breakfast and had a good pitch to train on. The stadium holds 20,000 and has really good natural grass.

“Everything was a really high level. There were a lot of foreigners but the players were really nice and didn’t have any problems finding friends.

“At that time when I signed there was 35 players under contract and we had to train on two pitches.

“The coach was from Holland and he favoured his Dutch players and there were a lot in that team then.

“The tempo is high and the players are really fit physically.”
