Fans' forum review part three

Last updated : 01 July 2010 By Jacob Daniel

After the interval, the floor was once again opened for more questions, which are covered in the final part of our fans' forum review.

Q - Is Roy Parker receiving payment for his shares?

A - JAH simply said "none of your business".

Q - Have all shareholders been consulted about the takeover?

A - Again "none of your business".

Q - Have the Football League sanctioned the takeover?

A - It is not necessary for the Football League to sanction the takeover, and they will know the investors behind the consortium. These will all be subject to the Football League's "fit and proper persons test", but no problems with this are expected.

Q - How do the trust represent their views to the new owners?

A - Glenn Rolley answered by stating that he had lengthy dialogue with Peter Trembling, and he was extremely encouraged by what he had heard, and believed that the people involved were genuine. He said that Trembling is a self confuessed Derby fan, and has a disrespect for our dear neighbours, even going as far as to burn a Forest shirt his son had once returned home with! He said that the ambitions of those involved were extremely high, and proceded to make an announcement that will pleasure all Notts fans. He said he had put forward to Peter Trembling the idea of building a statue of Jimmy Sirrel at Meadow Lane, and that Trembling and Munto was so encouraged by the idea that he had already contacted a sculptor with this in mind. JAH then added to this, stating that he had taken it a step further by proposing a joint statue with Jack Wheeler.

Q - Are there assurances that there is enough money to get us to the right end of League Two?

A - JAH answered simply by saying absolutely, and re-affirming the plans to have the club in the Championship by achieving two promotions in the next three years. He said that the owners and everyone at the club is aiming for promotion next season, he said that most players at this level are "mercenaries", and said that he and Ian McParland hope to bring in more young players who are passionate about playing for the club, with the right blend of experience as well, but being quick to point out that by experience he means "27 or 28" years of age.

Q - Do Munto need 100% of the shareholding?

A - Munto don't need 100% of the shareholding, but they want it. They want full control of the club so they can carry out their plans to improve the basic infrastructure and facilities at the club, and JAH commented that the plans Munto have for the club are "staggering".

Q - Will the top section of the Kop be reopened?

A - JAH simply assured fans that if 5,000 Notts fans wanted to fill that Kop, then they definately will be, and that the owners aspire to become the best club in Nottingham and to increase the fanbase and support.

Q - Are there plans to make the club self sufficient within a period of, say, 5 years?

A - Investment in facilities and staff will mean that the club's income will be increased, helping the club to become more self sufficient.

At this point, John Armstrong-Holmes rounded up the night with a passionate speech about the future, which received a rapturous applause from the crowd, with the night ending with County fans chanting across the room. Armstrong-Holmes apologised for being unable to answer certain questions, but re-iterated that this is the best opportunity in the club's history, and called upon fans to pull together and put the club's troubles behind us, be proud to be Notts County fans and look forward to a new beginning and new era for the club.
