A fan's view: Youpies is a popular fan site.
A popular Notts County fan site is in danger of closing down if funding is not secured over the next two months.

YouPies has been running for more than eight years, but due to a lack of sponsorship revenue and the effects of the credit crunch, it has become unsustainable.

The site's Editor, Paul Edgar expressed his disappointment, saying: "I am gutted. I love all that is Notts County Football Club and I have followed them since I was a kid, so running my own site felt fantastic.

"I felt as though I was giving something to the fans that could not get down the Lane or live in other parts of the world.

"I don't want to stop the site but with the way of the world at the moment I just can't afford the hosting renewal.

"I could go to a free site but that wouldn't give me the size needed to run a good site and a chat room.

The live chat feature, which is integrated into the aesthetically pleasing site, is all the rage on match days, particularly with NCM users.

Alongside regular features, it helps to draw in over 200,000 hits each month.

"It's nice to give the views of a fan, so I hope some of my articles are different

Busy: The chatroom is a popular feature used by many on this site.
to other sites," he continued.

"But, it's becoming very hard now days for the independent fans sites to keep going.

"You have to put in many hours a week just to keep the site updated, alongside normal day-to-day routines.

"People don't realise how much hard work goes into running a site like this."

Paul created YouPies back in 2000, where it was known as 'Paul's Unofficial Notts County Homepage'.

As more content began to circulate, it was given a revamp by a web design magazine five years later.

Re-branded under its current alias, it has developed into one of the most viewed Magpies news sources, meaning its disappearance from the web would be a huge disappointment.

There is still a chance to prevent this from happening, however, with a PayPal button available for fans to offer their financial assistance.

Alternatively, if you know of anybody willing to sponsor the site, then please do not hesitate to get in contact.
