Exclusive No.2: Everton Want McGoldrick

Last updated : 15 February 2004 By Rob Davies
We can exclusively reveal that David Moyes' side are hot on the heels of McGoldrick and even had a scout at Bournemouth to watch the starlet yesterday.

The news is a massive blow for Gary Mills & his team, as McGoldrick made his first start for the club yesterday, where he showed confidence that belied his tender years.

McGoldrick- who is still at school- impressed in the reserves earlier in the season, when just 15, and seemed to be averaging a wonder goal every other game.

But it wasn't until Gary Mills' arrival that the striker got his chance on the big stage, coming on as a late substitute in the 2-1 defeat against Swindon, making him the second youngest debutant ever for Notts.

And Mills showed great faith in the youngster by starting him alongside Paul Heffernan for yesterday's tie at Bournemouth.

Though, whether this was to attempt to get McGoldrick to stay is anyone's guess.

It's no real surprise a big club has come in for the lanky forward, but the problem is with Notts letting him go now, is they would not be entitled to a fee, as McGoldrick isn't allowed to sign a contract for the Magpies yet.

This means it's crucial we can hold on to him, at least until the end of the year.

The loss of McGoldrick would be another huge blow for Gary Mills- who is already desperately short on strikers.

NCM will keep you updated with McGoldrick's possible move to the big time.
