Richard Holmes and Danny Stone have been told by Dearden that their contracts will not be renewed when they expire in the summer.

Both players have featured on few occasions this season, with Holmes suffering a number of injury problems.

"I have spoken to Danny and Richard and told them they will be released." Dearden told the Evening Post.

"And they are in the process of trying to find other clubs." He added.

21 year old Stone was signed from Blackburn Rovers at the start of last season was a regular in the side at the start of the season at right back and centre half, but following the FA Cup loss at Southport he has made just 3 substitute appearances and has been training with Chesterfield in a bid to earn a contract with The Spireites.

Holmes, who has been training with 3rd Division Boston United, made a major impact on the side when Sam Allardyce handed him his debut during the 1999-2000 season after progressing from the youth team, when he was a regular in the side and was a highly rated prospect.

Danny Stone
He was unable to force his way into the team the following season under Jocky Scott, and had a loan spell at Hereford United last season before returning to Meadow Lane in the summer. And once again he has been unable to force his way into The Magpies side, added to that the injury problems the 22 year old right back has had this season.
