The duo, who let it be said found football hard to come by under Mills, have agreed to join the Mariners in hope of a permanent move prior to Grimsby's own attempt of a bounce back from relegation last season as the left-sided duo look to become the latest of the array of released players from last season to find new stomping grounds.

Riley, 22, made 22 appearances in all for County, scoring 3 goals in just under three years for the club. Highlights of his time at Meadow Lane include his wonder goal against Colchester, a goal that propelled Riley into the first team plans of then-manager Billy Dearden during the 2003/04 season.

Whilst the former England youth international, Nicholson, 23, had a more impressive appearance tally in his time here, turning out 84 times for the Magpies whilst managing to notch up four goals from his left-back slot. He joined from Northampton after spending time at FA school of youth development, Lilleshall.

New Grimsby boss Russell Slade, a former Magpies boss himself, has also snapped up pacey winger Andy Parkinson, who impressed in a loan spell at Meadow Lane during the second half of last season. Parkinson has signed a two-year deal to join the Mariners.

NCM would like to wish all three well as they bid to make new starts away from Meadow Lane.
