Duo apply for Magpies' post

Turner, who had success with Hartlepool United, but failed to save Sheffield Wednesday from the drop in Division One has confirmed his interest in the vacant position opened up by Gary Mills on Thursday. Turner has also apparently applied for the available job at Shrewsbury – and was said to be at yesterday’s game.

According to onlookers, former Chester City manager Mark Wright, and ex-Stockport chief Carlton Palmer were also both in the Derek Pavis Stand yesterday to watch the Magpies defeat fellow strugglers Shrewsbury Town 3-0.

And just a short time ago Andy Legg (pictured right in vintage pose) has also stated his desire to take over the club where he had happy days.

Legg, currently a player-coach with Peterborough Utd was linked with Notts in a player-coach role in the summer but nothing developed. He now waits to see if his application will be successful.

However, if current player/caretaker manager Ian Richardson works his magic consistently then the above names will not get a sniff of the much-wanted job at Meadow Lane.
