Do it for Jimmy

The passing of Jimmy Sirrel has definitely influenced some of the expectations for today's game, with fans expecting a huge performance from those that pull on the black and white stripes.

Deeply touched by what Sirrel achieved, the Notts faithful are hoping for the same passion, pride and determination that the fiery Scotsman did when he was in charge.

Here are the predictions for today's game with Aldershot. Please note that some forecasts were submitted before the news of Sirrel's passing.

Drapes: I don't know why considering we are yet to win, but I am supremely confident about Notts at the moment - the first time I've felt that for a while. I believe in Charlie, and I believe in the players and I believe we will beat the Shots. They are doing OK on their debut League Two season to be fair, but I expect we have more class. Weston will tear them apart and Butcher will get back amongst the goals - as will Forrester. Prediction: Notts County 2-0 Aldershot Town

Pissedoffmagpie: The passing of the great Jimmy Sirrel will weigh heavily on the minds of all connected with Notts County and maybe this will be the spur needed to kick start the season. Prediction: Notts County 2-0 Aldershot Town

Gary_NCM: Aldershot have made a stunning start to life in the Football League already sitting pretty in sixth spot. I have been really impressed with their desire to match teams all over the park. Yet again this match will no doubt be earmarked as a 'must-win' game for Notts but this is far from a banker. The Shots are still a fairly unknown quantity and this makes them dangerous. They have plenty of energy and are not afraid to let teams know they are there. They have not been out-played in a single one of their matches so far and Notts' inability to close out a match could again prove their achilles heel. This will be a tough afternoon for the Magpies and I expect them to edge closer to Torquay and Chesterfield's Football League record of eight consecutive draws. Form man Canhham for County but Grant to strike back. Prediction: Notts County 1-1 Aldershot Town

Paul_Youpies: Well I know that Aldershot are above us in the league but the away record is not good as our home. So I think it will be a close game with Notts just sneaking it through another goal from Canham after coming off the bench. Prediction: Notts County 2-1 Aldershot Town

Pies4u: The Aldershot game has just assumed incredible significance. The atmosphere will be electric, emotions charged and the spirit of the great man will be with us all.  I'm not sure the players will be able to cope with the magnitude of the occasion, so it's hard to predict. We simply have to win for Jimmy, and I think Myles Weston and Jamie Forrester might just help us do it. C'mon you Pies! Jimmy Sirrel's black & white army. Prediction: Notts County 2-0 Aldershot Town

Thenottsaregoingup: Although Aldershot have started well and are above Notts, this is where I think our season starts and we will really show what we are here for and that is promotion! Come on you pies - do it for Jimmy! Prediction: Notts 2-0 Aldershot
