"It is with great sadness and regret that I have to inform all Notts County supporters that at approximately 5pm on Monday, Bob Wilson - the leader of the consortium I was assisting to buy the Club - notified Paul Finnity, the Club's administrator, that Mr Wilson's consortium was not able to proceed any further with its proposed acquisition of the Club.
I wish to thank Mr Wilson and his associates for the considerable time and effort they have expended in investigating the Club as a proposition at such short notice and at considerable cost to themselves
I also wish to acknowledge a huge amount of time and effort which Peter Joyce and John Mounteney have put into trying to rescue the Club.
I have to report that we have now done everything in our power and exhausted every potential solution to try and help the administrators save the club.
But this has not proven possible in the short time available to us after the failure of the Strang/Bhatia consortium to complete their deal.
I wish we could have done more.
We have nevertheless told the administrators that if they can find a buyer, even at this late stage, they will have our full support and we will assist them in any way we can.
I recognise that there is now very little time left before the deadline for a sale set by the Football League expires and that I, and all other Notts County fans, have to prepare ourselves for the worst.
Unless a buyer comes forward in the next 72 hours I am told the administrators will have no choice but to put the Club into compulsory winding up.
I wish to thank all Notts County fans for their unstinting support over the years, especially during my time as Chairman.
No-one knows more than me that they deserve better than this.
Yours sincerely
Derek Pavis
