Depleted Strike Force?

Gary Mills revealed earlier today in an interview in the Nottingham Evening Post that star striker Paul Heffernan is struggling with an ankle injury and could miss out on Saturday which would leave Notts with youngsters Shaun Harrad and David McGoldrick to opt for and obviously new signing Steve Scoffham – who could be forced to play 90 minutes before he is 100% match fit.
Heff Injured......M.A.C Sacked......

Mills has also revealed that Paul Warhurst who had been on trial with Notts – as revealed here on NCM earlier this week – will NOT be signing for
Notts County.

Mills doesn’t think that Warhurst, who is 34 years of age, is the man to fill the void and thought he lacked hunger to play for
Notts County.

Mills told the NEP; “I am not going to sign somebody on the basis of their reputation.”

"I was not happy with what I saw from Paul, so we will not be taking that any further."

So if Paul Heffernan is ruled out of Saturday’s game Notts, it will be a massive blow as Notts will effectively be without a proven goal-scorer.
Obviously with the news that Mikael Antoine Curier has left Notts earlier today due to disciplinary reasons, Notts are in real desperate need of an experienced and proven goal-scorer to support 22 year old Heffernan.

What remains to be seen is anyone’s guess with the dramatic turnaround in events today.

Meanwhile, the Notts boss has said his main priority is to sign an experienced on-loan goal keeper because Stuart Garden remains a major doubt ahead of the ‘6 pointer’ with Wycombe on Saturday. An announcement is due later on who this goal-keeper is. We will keep you updated as always.
