Delroy misses out as Grenada crash

Delroy Facey missed out on making his international debut last night, as he didn't even make the bench in Grenada's heavy 4-0 defeat to the USA in Seattle. It had seemed that the Notts forward was in line to make his first appearance for the Spice Boyz, but he wasn't even named amongst the subtitutes, sparking fears that he could have picked up an injury in training.

As it was, Kithson Bain and Marcus Julien started up front for the Grenadians, but despite a bright opening the visitors were well beaten by a professional USA side. A couple of years ago, DC United's Freddy Adu had a trial at Manchester United and the youngster looked set for a glittering career in the game, but he has lost his way and now finds himself on loan at Monaco from Benfica, but it took Adu just seven minutes to open the scoring in Seattle, as he attacked a Robbie Rogers cross well.

Rogers again laid on the second, this time for Stuart Holden to slot past the 'keeper, and then Rogers himself beat the Grenadian 'keeper to make it 3-0 in the second half, before Charlie Davies rounded off the scoring. The 15,000 crowd in Seattle was a quarter of Grenada's how population however, so to have given the USA a decent game in the first half was to the Spice Boyz's credit. They now face Haiti in Washington on Wednesday, who were beaten 1-0 last night by Honduras, thanks to a goal from Birmingham City's Carlos Costly.
