Deeney Shocked To Be Given Debut

Deeney finally made his debut after 2 and a half years as a pro at Meadow Lane after Steve Mildenhall's thumb injury ruled him out for the rest of the season.

"I only knew yesterday at training when the gaffer announced the team I was playing." Deeney told Radio Nottingham.

"I was shocked, I thought Stuart (Garden) would be playing in goal as he is more experienced and because it was such a big game."

"I felt confident when once the game started and in the first few minutes I came and caught a corner and I had Craig Ireland and Nicky Fenton saying well done and it really gives you a lift." Added Deeney.
