Deeney On The Move

Last updated : 23 October 2003 By Rob Davies
The mystery club have apparently agreed a deal with the Republic of Ireland youth international.

Deeney is highly rated at Meadow Lane, and impressed when he was put in the side at the end of last season.

Despite this, Deeney has been relegated to third choice goalkeeper this season and has become increasingly frustrated at his lack of first team oppurtunities.

The player's agent, Clive Hart, confirmed that Deeney could be off to The Premiership soon.

Hart told Sky Sports: "I took a call from a chief executive of a Premiership club very recently and he is very keen to push through a deal as soon as possible.

"Saul is on a week-to-week contract at the minute and he would be able to leave Notts County.

"All has been agreed with the Notts County management team and a move could happen very soon."

Deeney attracted the interest of Graham Souness' Blackburn last season and a move there did look on the cards.

Although, the club on the verge of Deeney's signature are not thought to be Blackburn.

It will be another blow for Notts, if they were to lose Deeney but at the minute, it looks likely that he won't be here at the end of the week.
