Deardens Striker Poser

Dearden went with all 3 fit stikers starting on Saturday, with Danny Allsopp playing on the right side of midfield with Heffernan and Mark Stallard leading the line.

Allsopp has looked somewhat out of form for a while now, and perhaps Dearden will decide to rest the Aussie forward and go with Stallard and Heffernan up front?

Stallard is Notts' leading scorer with 14 goals, while Heffernan has 5 and has impressed in the last few games. Despite being on only 5 minutes at Brentford he gave Notts the extra option that day, running at defenders and he came close with a late header that he just couldn't reach.

He was introduced as a half time sub against Stockport when Notts were 2-0 down, and he got the leveller in the 3-2 victory and gave a sparkling performance that earned him a starting position against Plymouth.

"There is no problem at all with Paul, you know what you are going to get from him," Dearden told the Evening Post.

Heffernan Celebrates His Winner Against Northampton Earlier In The Season
"You can't put our revival against Stockport down to one player alone, but he did do very well for us.

"And he is pushing for a place in the team, but then he has been for a while.

"If he keeps getting goals he will get his chance. I have always selected players on merit and will continue to do so."

Notts could enhance their striking options even more this weekend with Tony Hackworth back in contention following injury.
