Dearden: We need a good start

On the first home game of last season against Wycombe Notts were leading up until a late injury time equalizer, it then took them until October to get their first home victory.

"It is important to us to pick up a win tomorrow, because last season it took us so long to get ourselves a home win," Dearden told the Evening Post.

"We can't afford for that to happen again. We need a good start.

"At the end of last season it was our home form that pulled us out of trouble, to some extent.

"It made a real difference to us when we won six of our last eight matches at Meadow Lane.

"We need to reproduce that kind of form as soon as possible."

Dearden admitted it will not be easy against Dennis Smith's Wrexham but insisted he has no concerns about facing the man who rejected Notts in favour of Wrexham this summer, left winger Chris Llewellyn:

"He is obviously a player I rated, because we wanted him," said Dearden. "But he made his decision and, as far as I am concerned, that is it. There will be no ill feelings and I don't believe in worrying about one particular player."

"I know Dennis Smith and the big strength of his sides is their organisation. They will be committed, if they play anything like Dennis used to."

Notts have Simon Baldry back in contention for a starting place, however Michael Brough is now a major doubt with a thigh strain.
