Dearden set to sign Whitley on loan

Whitley has not featured in the Manchester City side this season apart from in August when he played against Norwich. But the Northern Ireland International said that he is looking forward to it: "City are playing that well at the moment and it's a good chance for me to get some games under my belt before the end of the season and get that real buzz back of playing in front of a crowd.

"Notts County have obviously not done too well this season but I think he (Bill Dearden) is a good manager and if I can go there and help them out and they can help me we'll all be happy.

"I'm really looking forward to it, there are five games left and hopefully I'll be playing in all of them and I'm just going to give it my best shot."
