"It is very disappointing for us to have missed out on Chris, but it is just one of those things," Dearden told the Evening Post.
"Perhaps it was down to the fact that there was a contract there waiting for him at Wrexham, there is a certain amount of security in that.
"He couldn't put pen to paper with us until the takeover was completed.
"Plus he was a Welsh lad and perhaps the chance to move nearer home played a part for him.
"It is frustrating, but we will keep looking to bring players in." He added.
