The Magpies have had to opearate without natural wingers in the side for nearly the whole season, with Marcel Cas being the only natural winger on the books before he left to join Neil Warnock's Sheffield United in the new year.

And with a number of players released from the Notts squad, Dearden is keen to bring in a couple of wingers to bolster his squad and get the duo creating plenty of chances for Mark Stallard and Paul Heffernan.

Many players filled in on the wings throughout the season with Danny Allsopp, Paul Bolland, Simon Ramsden, Duncan Jupp, Richard Liburd, Michael Brough and Richard Holmes all performing in wide positions at some stage during the season.

"I will be looking at bringing in a couple of players who can operate in wide positions," Dearden told the Evening Post.

"That will be one of the priorities over the summer.

"We have not really had an out-and-out winger at the club this season.

"Other than that there hasn't been anyone who you would regard as being an out-and-out winger.

"Players have filled in in midfield and there have been some good performances here and there.

"But I think we need the kind of player who can provide the kind of service our strikers deserve on a regular basis."
