Dearden gets a job!

Dearden ended his reign at Meadow Lane this January by mutual consent after performances and results alike had badly waned under his guidance.

The former Mansfield boss took over under many false promises in January 2002 and almost his entire two-year reign was spent under the cloud of administration.

The ageing boss managed to steer the club to the "Great Escape" in his first few months as manager, and optimism was high going into the 02-03 season.

However, this entire season was spent under administration, and despite managing to keep the club up again on limited resources, Dearden was becoming increasingly frustrated at being unable to make one permanent signing as boss.

When the club finally did emerge from administration, fans were getting increasingly frustration with Dearden's insistence on the dour long ball game, and calls for his head became louder as the club spiralled into relegation trouble.

In the end, a mutual agreement after the 5-2 hammering at Peterborough saw Dearden leave the club and Gary Mills was appointed later that week.

His overall record as Notts boss reads: P 103, W 30, D 27, L 46.

The former Notts boss will hopefully help the inexperienced Hendry through his first managerial job, despite the pair having never worked together before.

We wish Dearden all the best.
