Simon Haworth headed the only goal of the game for Tranmere and kept their playoff hopes alive while Notts slipped two places to 14th.

It took Notts until late in the 2nd half to test Rovers keeper John Achterberg, when Paddy McCarthy's stinging drive was well saved.

"It was a poor game, I don't blame the windy conditions because the pitch was fine." Dearden told Radio Nottingham.

"We didn't create enough chances, we knocked a few balls into the box first half and Stall was unlucky not to score but his shot was deflected over.

In the 2nd half we were disappointing and we've got done by a bad goal for us to conceed really and we should have prevented it much earlier."
Added Dearden.

Dearden's side have the chance to put the defeat straight out of their minds as they take on QPR tomorrow at Loftus Road.
