The deadly duo netted a goal in each half, both rounding the keeper to slot home cool finishes. But the significance of the event was not lost on us here at NCM, who trawled through the history books to see that it was the first time the duo have netted in the same competitive fixture since both arriving at Meadow Lane in the summer.
This rather worrying statistic comes about despite them being the preferred striking partnership under both former manager Gary Mills and current player/boss Ian Richardson.
Saturday's encounter was their 17th start as a pair.
Despite not particularly blossoming as a partnership during their time here, the strikers have managed to attain reasonable goal tally's. Gordon's tremendous effort at the weekend was his 8th of the season, while Hurst notched up his 12th.
Let's hope witnessing them both score in the same game will not be a one-off and will now become a regular accurence.
A repeat performance tomorrow against Maccesfield Town will do nicely!
