New signing
Thordarson had hoped to sign the 27-year-old last week, but the deal appeared to be dead due to the Icelander's lack of funding.

However, City have announced this morning that the midfield man is set to sign for the Magpies, with a contract running until the end of the season set to be penned this afternoon.

Thordarson knows the holding player well from their time together at Barnsley, where Crooks was his captain.

The former Manchester City player has made 19 appearences for the League One side this campaign, but has fallen out-of-favour after being sent off in his last appearence for the Bantams.

Meanwhile, Thordarson has recalled youngster Chibuzor Chilaka from his loan spell at non-league Hinckley today.

The 19-year-old had been expected to spend another month with the Conference North outfit, but will now return to Meadow Lane. Chilaka has made just one senior appearence for the Magpies this season.
