Reports suggest that The Cobblers are to make centre half Chilvers their fifth signing of the summer, as they build a new squad for life in Division Three after relegation from the Second Division last season.

He joined Notts on loan in November 2001, making his debut days later against QPR in a 2-0 loss, and made 11 appearances for The Magpies, scoring one goal.

His only goal came in a 3-2 loss at Bristol City before returning to Arsenal with a hamstring injury.

Since his time at Meadow Lane he has also had loan spells at Beveren in Belguim, and Colchester United last season and may now be looking to move away from Highbury in search of first team football with a wealth of talent ahead of him at Highbury.
