Chillingworth poised to sign

After Gudjon Thordarson initially overlooked the player following a fortnight’s trial, marksman Chillingworth looks set to complete a remarkable U-turn by extending his initial one-month loan to the end of the season.

The 24-year old striker – currently on-loan from League Two rivals, Rushden & Diamonds – has netted twice in his five game tenure with the club, including a sublime diving header against Bristol Rovers that helped end the Magpies seven-match winless run.

The former England schoolboy international (pictured) should, according to assistant manager Ross MacLaren, finalise the extension of his current deal tomorrow morning.

"Everything else is sorted. It is just the paperwork now that needs to be completed. That should be all done Friday," said Maclaren.

"At Rushden I think a little bit stale. He was struggling, injured and bombed out a bit so we gave him an opportunity to get back into playing games and he has taken the opportunity with both hands which we are delighted with.

"He has got himself fitter and has been scoring goals as well, so we are pleased with him."

Rest assured that NCM will bring you any news upon the deal as and when it breaks.
