Chairboys victory overshadowed by tragic death

Philo, 21, was held in high-esteem by all those at the Causeway Stadium, and his tragic and sudden death will be a great loss to all those associated with the club.

The midfielder (pictured) was involved in a fatal car accident just outside Reading in the early hours of this morning; just hours before Wycombe were due to face County in the game that later finished 2-0.

The player was rushed to a nearby hospital, and would, sadly, die from his injuries.

The news of the player’s death – who’d spent six-years with the club after signing as a 15-year old following spells with West Ham and Crystal Palace – did not reach the Wycombe squad until after the match.

"It is absolutely devastating, he was a fantastic kid and at 21 was at the start of his career, he lived for football and always had a smile on his face," said the distressed John Gorman, manager of Wycombe.

Naturally, NCM – on behalf of site staff and visitors alike – would like to offer our condolences to the family of the player.
