Centre of Excellence format set for shake-up.

The club today announced the remarkable £1,000,000 outgoings over three years which has been exhausted in the field of the club's largely unsuccessful Centre of Excellence set-up which means that, following the clubs emergence from administration, down-sizing is under-way.

The changes - which aim to cut-back on the resources needed to continue in its former set-up - will affect C.O.E youngsters aged between seven and eleven as the new format will no-longer accomodate for the needs of that age group. Instead, teams will operate for children aged 12, 14, 16 and 18.

The more dynamic compact set-up aims to 'enable the manager to become involved right from the start of a young player's career.'

The youth set-up was commented upon in a previous Gary Mills Nottingham Evening Post column as one which has become somewhat of a hunting ground for teams to pick up a hot-prospect - a fact reflected upon in the statement. A declaration which is an accurate analysis of the current situation.

The Club's statement is below.

"The club has spent nearly £1million in the last three years on the Centre which requires substantial administration and professional support."

"Despite the massive investment there has been little progression of players into the first team and some of our potential young stars have been lured away from the club at 16."

"The club simply cannot continue in this way. We do not have the financial resources to carry on with such a large Centre."
