Captain Baudet says sorry

Baudet was dismissed late-on for a stamp in last month's match at Gay Meadow.

It was an act of madness from a man who has been nothing-but mild-mannered since arriving here in the summer of 2004. However, the deserved red meant that the defender was forced to sit-out of the two 0-0 draws against Rushden & Diamonds and Maccesfield Town and the 4-0 mauling by Grimsby Town.

The Frenchman returns for Friday night's visit of Boston Utd, but admits wrong-doing over the incident that meant Gudjon Thordarson was without his skipper for three important league fixtures.

"It was a stupid thing to do," Baudet admitted to the official site. "I switched off for a split second and as a result this happened.

"I have faced the consequences after being sitting on the sidelines for two weeks and I have been fined big time as well. I have to move on now and forget about it.

"I must apologise to those who have faith and trust in me, the players, the fans and the Manager. I am really looking forward to pulling my boots on again and hopefully getting back in action on Friday against Boston."

Prior to his red card, Baudet had been forming an excellent-looking partnership at the heart of the Magpies' defence alongside teenager star Kevlin Wilson that had been undefeated up until the Shrewsbury loss.

The 26-year-old was made team captain in the summer by Thordarson and repaid his manager with a series of assured displays at the heart of the back four that have been sorely missed by the Magpies' in the big defender's absence.
