Can Notts make it three in a row?

Killer instinct: Everyone at the club is hoping that Forte can build on his hat-trick.
We are rapidly approaching the busy Christmas period and spirits are in the sky, following the 4-0 thumping of Barnet last week.

The addition of Barbados international, Jonathan Forte has given the Magpies the cutting edge that has been missing.

To net three times on his debut showed a real instinct for goal and has considerably increased the weight of expectation resting on his young shoulders.

It is a huge boost to the club to finally feel like there is a forward who can provide the regular goals needed to convert draws into wins.

Seeing three away fixtures on the trot would have been a daunting proposition when considering the dire efforts produced throughout recent campaigns.

Two wins on the road in as many weeks has lifted these concerns, with a slight feeling of optimism sneaking in quietly through the back door.

Sutton United and the Bees were weaker opponents on paper in comparison to this weekend's hosts, Dagenham & Redbridge, who have been a bit of a surprise package thus far.

Although their form has faltered as of late - winning just once in their last five - they find themselves sitting comfortably in 10th position.

Just three points adrift of the play-off berths, the Daggers must now fancy their chances of competing with the leading pack.

Triumphant over League One's Hereford United on Tuesday in the FA Cup, they will have been given just the lift they need to regain their form outside the domestic competitions.

One of their finest qualities this term has been their ability to perform on home soil, where they have lost just once.

On top of this, they have won four and drawn three at Victoria Road, scoring a credible 18 goals and conceding just five.

A win for the Magpies would mean that they will have recorded more wins away from home than the entirety of last season in the league.

Saying that, improving on two out of 23 should not be too difficult.

Another three points against Dagenham would build on the momentum already gained, putting the team in good stead for a festive period, which could well be make or break time for Ian McParland's squad.
