Butcher up for Player of the Month gong

The former Lincoln City ace has started his life at Meadow Lane in exciting fashion netting three times in three league games including a fine late brace at Darlington last weekend.

And now the Football League have recognised his form and have nominated him, along with three others, to be named their top player for the division in the first month of the campaign.

Butcher faces stiff competition from a player he faces on Saturday, Morecambe's Jim Bentley, and forwards Aaron McLean and Dave Hibbert of Peterborough United and Shrewsbury respectively.

No Magpies man has picked up the prestigious accolade since relegation to the bottom tier in 2004.

Midfielder Butcher, 26, arrived in Nottingham from Peterborough in the summer after a long chase which NCM exclusively revealed to you first.

You can find out whether Butcher is successful on Monday evening by tuning in to Sky Sports' the Big League Weekend at approximately 6.30pm.

Good Luck Butch!
