Broughie handed Silkmen trial

Brough, who made over 70 appearances for Notts, was told yesterday by Mills that his wage could be used more effectively elsewhere and there that the new Magpies manager will not retain the services of the 22-year-old.

Since then, the Welsh under-21 international has joined the Silkmen on trial along with Villa youngster, Jonathan Bewers.

The pair have been drafted into the squad for Wednesday’s reserve game at Carlisle where, among others, an anxiously waiting John Askey will evaluate his options over possibly signing one, or both, of the duo on a permanent basis.

Brough and Bewers look to be possible replacements for the injured midfielders Tommy Waddington and Dave Smith.
