Nottingham born Brough qualifies for the Welsh squad as his mother comes from Cardiff.
Brough will now miss Notts' tricky FA Cup trip to Southport, as that game is played on the same day as the Welsh side.
Brough has been a regular in the Notts side since September this season, and of late his form has been impressive enough to keep Darren Caskey out of the side. Brough and Jeff Whitley have struck up a fine understanding in the midfield, and his impressive performances have obviously impressed the Wales scouts.
Back in April 2000 Brough was asked would be represent Wales if the chance arose and his response was;
"I'd have to consider it. I've got relations in Cardiff and I really like the place."
After hearing he had been called up today, he told the clubs website:
"I was shocked to be on standby last week, and it was an even bigger shock to know I was definitely in, I've never represented Wales at any level before. It's great news, I am absolutely delighted."
Congratulations Broughy!
