Brian Clough: RIP

Last updated : 20 September 2004 By Rob Davies
Clough died in Derby City Hospital this afternoon, aged 69, after a long-running battle with stomach cancer.

The former England international steered our local rivals, Nottm Forest, to TWO succesive European Cup succeses in 1979 and 1980. He also enjoyed great success at Derby County, steering them to one European Cup semi-final.

Clough, surely one of the greatest characters ever in the game, spent an incredible 18 years at the City Ground, before finally retiring in 1993.

Rated as the best Englishman never to manage England, Clough will be sorely missed by all in the game.
