With no fewer than four players doubted – with as many again and then some condemned to longer bouts on the sideline – for the planned match at York Street for the Magpies, it seems, as if there were such a thing, that the postponement of tonight’s fixture was tailor-made for the Magpies fittings.

With experienced and new-established consistent heads of the Magpies’ rearguard out injured in the form of Mike Whitlow (knee) and Rob Ullathorne (groin), its hard to see beyond such injuries from a team perspective.
Having played a key part of the Magpies’ stability of late, the absence of the two defenders – especially considering the notable attacking threat posed by the Pilgrims, especially 21-goal striker Andy Kirk would have posed a severe threat to any sort of revival.
Lining up with a line up either with Wilson, Baudet and McFaul and any one of either Chrissy Palmer, Emmet Friars or even Eddie McIntyre, still only on a work experience basis at non-league Tamworth in the side.
In any case, a defence that looks none to daunting for a rampant Boston strike force.
Elsewhere in the side, however, and other injuries, like that of Paul Bolland (ankle), would only have been tendered, if not worsened, by the pressure of a hurried return to the side.

"Obviously, we are disappointed because we wanted to play the game."
"But it will at least give some of them a couple more days to recover from their injuries in time for Saturday."
"We are now concentrating on getting them ready for Saturday and it will give Rob in particular the chance to rest his groin."
The Magpies’ next test falls on the road to Wycombe Wanderers this coming weekend, subject to weather conditions, of course.
Wycombe last night turned over Notts’ local rivals, Mansfield Town 4-1 at Field Mill, in front of Ian Richardson.
"It is going to be a very difficult game for us. They looked dangerous at set pieces and it is going to be tough."
"That is exactly why we need our best players back."
