Dearden played at Crewe for just one season during his 14 year long playing career.

Billy Dearden
Billy joined the Alex in December 1966 and only played there for about 18 months before signing for Chester City in June 1968.

In his time at Crewe, Dearden had a hand in the fourth goal of a 4-0 win for the Reds, when the Railwaymen faced Notts in October 1967. Dearden was never actually credited with the goal that day because the ball only struck him on the way into the net.

An extract taken from the match report in the Evening Post about that match:

"The Magpie’s defence constantly under pressure as Regan scored Crewe’s fourth goal with a shot from eight yards, the ball striking Dearden on its way into the net."
