Battle Of The Magpies Tonight

Last updated : 23 February 2004 By Joanna Walker
Yes, tonight sees the battle of the Magpies and what better reason is needed to see another game of football.......

The game kicks off at
7pm and entry is FREE to season ticket holders. Non season ticket holders need not worry as Adults pay just £2, while Children pay just £1 – small price to pay to perhaps see some big name Newcastle players – bargain!

At the most recent Fans Forum the issue of reserve games being played in the evenings was raised and the club is looking into the viability of this, therefore it is another reason to get down ‘Lane, not only to support the young players but to make a strong claim for reserve fixtures to be held in the evenings in the future.

And reserve team captain Emmet Friars has also urged all Notts fans to get behind the reserves and go down to
Meadow Lane and watch the battle of the Magpies tonight.

He told the Club’s Official Website earlier today; "I would like to ask all supporters to come down to
Meadow Lane tonight to witness the battle of the Magpies, as the reserves take on Newcastle United. Hopefully I will be marking some fairly big names, so get yourself down to the ground and cheer us on!"

Meanwhile another regular reserve team player will miss out on tonight’s encounter through suspension. Defender Kelvin Wilson misses out as he serves his punishment for receiving a red card in the reserves’ last match against Hartlepool United when he brought down an opponent in attempt to clear the ball from goal.

So, hopefully some of you will get down the 'Lane to see this possibly mouth-watering encounter and encourage reserve games to be played in the evenings. See you all there!
