Battle Of The Keepers

Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post; ”Stuart should be back in training today.

If he can prove his fitness in the next few days, I will have a choice to make on Saturday”

Garden: Returns To Fitness
The Scottish shot stopper, who is out of contract at the end of the season ,has struggled to recover from a rib injury sustained in the 0-0 home draw against Plymouth Argyle earlier this month.

But with the positive news that he is training again, it could mean that Garden could well make a welcome return in goal at
Prenton Park, where Notts travel to take on Tranmere on Saturday.

But while, Mills is obviously delighted to have a choice in who goes in goal on Saturday, he was critical of some fans who have not backed loan signing Pegguy Arphexad and made it clear he did not think he (Arphexad) was to blame for the goal in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chesterfield, and laid the blame definitely with Ian Richardson.

Mills spoke to the Club’s Official Website earlier today and said: "I am a bit disappointed Pegguy was heavily criticised after the weekend because as far as I am concerned it was a dreadful mistake by Richo

"Pegguy is getting the blame for it, but it was a basic error by Richo and why Pegguy is getting the blame is beyond me to be perfectly honest"

"Pegguy is a very good goalkeeper and I have every faith in him. If I
Mills Has Every Faith In Pegguy
didn't believe that I would not have brought him to the club."

He made it quite clear when he spoke to the Club’s Official Website that the own goal magnet Ian “Richo”
Richardson should have cleared the ball with his right foot, instead of hooking it with his left into the back of the net.

Basically, I think you can say it was a huge communication error between keeper and centre back (also captain), and I personally think both players were to blame.

One thing's for sure, there's no point dwelling on who's fault the own goal was now.

Whoever's in goal against Tranmere, and whoever's on the field for that matter, we need three points and YOU can play your role by backing them to a much needed three points.
