Sir Charlie Palmer
Let’s start with the most famous; it is of course the 10th Anniversary of Sir Charlie Palmer day. In 1994 the towering centre half’s last minute winner was enough to earn Notts their famous victory over the red scum.

Gary Lund remembers, ‘he may have not of been the fastest player on the pitch, but when that goal went in nobody could catch him.’ The result left Notts mid-table with 40 points.

There is now a photo of that celebration in the club shop which shows sir Charlie with his back to a stand full of disgruntled F****t fans.

Another year of importance is 1988, Notts were preparing to face Blackpool away and manager at the time John Barnwell said, ‘as we are a bit short of players at the moment we have decided to include a YTS lad.’ This ‘lad’ went by the name of Tommy Johnson.

Other key matches on this day were an old division two match between Notts and F****t at meadow lane in 1955, which Notts won 4-1.

In 1972 Notts beat Oldham away 1-0 in the old division three, and more recently in 2000 Notts won at meadow lane 2-1 against Wrexham, the result left the ‘pies in 8th place still gunning for a play off spot.
