Austria friendlies confirmed

When Notts County fly out to their training camp in Austria on Saturday, they are to play two matches, the club have today confirmed. Just like last year, the squad will spend a week at the National Sports Centre in Obertraun in preparation for the new season, and will play two friendlies whilst over there.

Firstly they will face Romanian Premier Division side Universitatea Craiova on Monday July 13th in Bischofshofen, before facing Austria Fourth Divion side SV Austria Salzburg in Salzburg on Wednesday July 15th. Craiova are one of Romania's biggest sides, and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1982/83. They finished 7th in the Romanian top flight last season, their current squad includes current Romanian international Dorel Stoica and Sierra Leone international Julius Woobay, as well as three Australians. Famous ex-players of Craiova include former Valencia man Gabriel Popescu and Eugen Trica, who impressed for Cluj against Chelsea in last year's Champions League.

SV Austria Salzburg meanwhile were only formed in 2005, but have had four promotions along the way to reached the fourth tier of Austria football. The club are the AFC Wimbledon of Austria having been formed due to the re-naming of SV (Austria) Salzburg, one of Austria's biggest clubs, to Red Bull Salzburg in a sponsorship deal.
